Re: Where are the Gates Bros.?

After reading the RMR posts after this years' LDRS and NSL and now the

doubt it.

doubt it

maybe.

My opinion.

they are up against the wall, what have they left to do? bigger rockets? Cripes how big do they need to go? Think it might be time they though about strapping a chair to the nosecone. or is there something out there yet that they have not done yet?

Wanna bet they could get someone to half the distance of space. maybe not soon enuf to win Xprize, but in this game a slower, but better 2nd place will eventually win the marbles.

I offered to give them a long list of "to do's" with or course "my" motors.

So far no go.

With all due respect. They and I could win the x-prize despite Rutan being on the verge of doing it.

But as with all things motivation is the key element, not technology, not propulsion, not even permits.

Except for the fact that you would expect to be paid for your work or merchandise. That would be the deal breaker.

Only problem is that they won't tell you up front & (as you know) you're screwed by the time you find out.

Geez, folks. Give them a break.

Maybe they are hard at work on the Saturn 1b and it's gantry.

Maybe not.

Maybe they are just taking a break from the hobby.

Or maybe they have more important things going on in their lives right now.

They have kids.

They have lives.

They also have a tremendous list of achievements. Enjoy what they have given this hobby.

We last flew at Springfest, and the kids flew at the TARC. And have been flying small stuff at the local ROC launches as we are monitoring the BATF involvement. It is impossible to sell 100% legally on the lakebed, and flying is kinda sketchy with the laws regarding transporting and storage...

We are headed to Balls, plan to fly the Bullpup and Porthos. And have all the parts made now for the 1/10 scale Saturn 1B! ROC building parties should start on that pretty soon! Between building the Saturn 1B, and also making a 1/10 scale launch tower as well, our plate is pretty full!

We also have been closing out RocketSilo2.0, and could not launch, and fly, as it was too distracting for me to do both successfully.

Isn't this restraint of trade contrary to the preambles of ATF, DOT and others?
