Rocket Materials testing site down and out.

I'll offer free hosting. Same service provided to NAR, Public Missiles, Giant Leap, etc.

After much thought, I have decided to accept these offers. Here's what I'd like to do: I will use the money to secure the server space and the domain names. I will try to get the dot come name back. Any money that is beyond what is needed will be donated to the legal fund as being "donated by RMR". My PayPal account is the same as my email address. Thanks for the generosity guys,

Doc

Doc, How about having people donate to the people hosting the page? This way you dont have to deal with it, and it will cover the cost of administering it.

That works too.

PS-Dont forget to remove his shorts to pay ;-)

That's a nice offer, but not necessary. My hosting costs are minimal as it is, and I'm more than willing to share the space and bandwidth with Doc's rocketmaterials.org site. I'd be spending the money anyway to keep my personal domains online, so just consider it as "already donated".

I have received the first donation. RDH8 of Pico Alt was the first generous donor. The donations will be used to help pay for the dot org name and transfer it to my name. Then I will secure the dot com name. Once that is done, I will them ensure a permanent server. I cant go on forever relying on the generosity of Rick "Mr Generosity" Dickinson.

Why not? He seems like a pretty generous guy...

Yes, very generous indeed. But I was always told not to take advantage of peoples generosity. You can wear out your welcome. :-)

Not likely, Doc. I'm still just as excited about keeping this great resource online as I ever was, and I'm sure I speak for many of us when I say that we're all in your debt for making your time, expertise, and test equipment available to *finally* give us some real numbers to back up our many years of "rules of thumb" for rocket construction.

In any case, I've transferred the rocketmaterials.org domain to you, and have sent you the password you'll need to manage the domain. If I get hit by a bus tomorrow, the domain will remain in your capable hands.

As far as hosting goes, as I mentioned already, I'm paying for the space and bandwidth anyway, so giving you a place to park doesn't cost me one thin dime. You're more than welcome to stay there as long as you'd like.

I get the best of both worlds out of this deal: I get to support a project that I'm passionate about without spending any extra money, and someone else gets to do all the hard work of actually testing materials.

How could you wear out your welcome? You're the reason the site exists at all!
