Rocket Materials testing site down and out.

Well, it's happened again. The site was going along well when the person who donated the server space has dropped of the face of the planet. Everything is gone. This happened when it was a dot org, and now its the dot com site. I have no way of transferring either of the domain names to another server.

I'm about ready to give up running the website for it. I will still do testing, in fact, I have some huge projects in the works. The problem is that I wont be able to share it with anyone.

Sorry guys, I really tried to share my data.

Doc,

I've recently "bit the bullet" and bought web hosting space on a "real" web host. I'm allowed to host multiple domains, so I'd be glad to donate the space for this.

I'll email you to work out the details.

Thanks for all you do,

- Rick "Pay forward" Dickinson

I can offer the web space and a stable URL.

Was any of the website itself saved?

I think I offered it to him before, but it was too much for him to handle. I offered it to NAR and TRA but they ignored me.

You should see the tests I have going. I will be starting some full scale (20 hrs/wk) testing on 4/15. That's about 250 rocket materials tests for 6 people. (You reading this Kevin? )

Thanks Jerry. You're always one to help wherever you can. I don't remember what it was, but there was a problem with me having the site on your server.

Yes, I have every bit of it backed up on hard drives and 6 Zip drives. I also have all if it printed. (OK, so I'm anal about saving data.)

Doc I have multiple server locations I can stash the site on. I'd just need to know what your site stats were (size, amount of data transfer, etc). so I can pick the best one. If interested, LMK.

300mb+ can pick the best one. If interested, LMK.

Between my offer and the Dickinson offer one would think you can "get-'er-done".

I can help transfer the domain to Rick's site if he will do work on it. I need less work these days.

Do you have a copy of the site? Maybe we can find something.

I am astounded at the outpouring of generosity I received last night. The news spread and my in box was inundated with kind words and offers to help. Thanks to everyone that offered to help out in this. I still can't believe that so many people were that concerned about the site.

I have accepted an offer by Rick "Mr Generosity" Dickinson. The site is once again

since he is the one who registered the dot org name for me a couple years ago. I am already in the process of uploading the data.

My goal is that it will eventually be part of something bigger and more important, like EMRR.

It's working.

Just a thought here ... why don't you jump through the hoops now to make yourself the contact point for the domain with the registration service? We had to convert ownership of our kloudbusters.org site from an ISP to an individual and it was do-able. That way you can find yourself when renewal time comes.

Do you need donations to pay for renewing the domain for 99 years or so?

And a good thought it is. I am working on that very thing now. The dot org is secured now. I want the dot com, but the person that donated the server space is the owner of the dot com domain. If/when I can reloacet him, I'm sure he will give it to me. This whole fiasco was not malicious on his part i'm sure.

I've never asked for donations for the site, other than materials to test. Perhaps I should solicit funds for it. I think that selling advertising space on the site would be a conflict of intrest, so that is out.

Put up a tip jar Doc. Those of us who *really, really do* appreciate the testing information you are providing can help support in a relatively painless way !
