1/35 Italeri 6 Pounder AT Gun vs Tamiya 6 Pounder AT Gun?

Hi there.

WHen you look at the contents of these two kits you can see that they build up into two very different looking anti-tank guns. I have seen images of the Italeri type gun in action and I wonder, "What the heck is the Tamiya 6 pounder gun a depiction of?" So, I'm asking any of the Allied anti-tank gun experts here, what and where were the Tamiya style 6 pounder anti-tank guns used?

I also noticed that Zesda (sp?) also offers the Italeri 6 pounder kit

*BUT* it does not come with either the ammo box (correct for the Bren Carrier which would normally have three of them) or the cartridges or spent casings that are/were in the Italeri kit. The ammo and ammo boxes in the Tamiya kit look like something that was never used with the 6 pounder anti-tank gun.

Thanks and cheers from Peter

The Tamiya kit dates from 1969 and is well beyond obsolete - it was not a very good kit to start with and has not aged gracefully.

The Zvezda (actually Italeri, actually Peerless Max) originally came with a Bedford QL 4 x 4 gun portee kit and is about ten years newer. It is a bit clunky by today's standards but can be reworked into a good model if you replace the too-thick shields and other heavy details.

There are some better resin kits out there but all are not cheap.

Somebody (I want to say Miniart) has listed a British 6-pdr and a US M1 as coming in 2010 - can't recall who though.

Hi there Cookie.

I have the Bedford Portee kit by Italeri an it too does *NOT* come with any ammo. I find it interesting that *ONLY* the Italeri individual 6-pounder kit has the one ammo can and the ammo and empty casings. Did the old Peerless kit have these?

Cheers from Peter

Umph! It's been about 30 years since I built one -- I THINK it did but can't recall for sure.
