This is the "Black Cat" fire burning about 5-6 miles to the South of
where I live.
(Near Missoula, Montana.)
The fire began with a lightning strike back in July which smouldered
broke open on the 14th of August. Most of the pix in the attached
taken early on.
A windstorm on the afternoon of the 16th caused a real "blow up" with
fire running in several different directions - forcing the sudden
about 60 homes.
Much more information is available on the web. Just do a search for
"Montana Fires" or "Black Cat Fire". Altogether we now have 15 -20
burning across the state. Just one fire alone has burned as much
as the state of Rhode Island.
