It's been years since the last time something THIS stupid happened... I installed Pavla's undercarriage wells in the wings of my Trumpeter's MiG-19. Needless to say, the wings wouldn't close, so I took out the Dremel and shaved the plastic to see-throuh thickness. All went well and I could close the wings. D'oh! I had forgotten to open the holes for the missile pylons. Well, no big deal. I held the model against a halo lamp (damn', it's HOT) and marked the translucent spots. When I turned the model the right side up, surprise! Did you remember that the plastic was thin? The wheel bulge on the wing is now a deformed blob of plastic and the correlated reinforcement looks like a dead angleworm stuck to the surface. Evening out, filling, sanding, rescribing, making new bulges and strakes... it will be a month before I'm back to where I started - if I ever get there at all. And so much for a metal finish...
