heyford

i snagged that matchbox for 14 bucks today. last one they had. odd thing, it had fresh shrinkwrap over a box that was taped shut. the decals were old and needed the naptha seperation trick, (thanks for that tip, guys!) but were other wise fine. last time they had three, but i did not look for tape. i wonder if thise was nos rewrapped? no china stickers and the colors were brown, light green and dark green. are those originals? looks like a decent kit with room to detail and make nice. any cool or unuasual color schemes? tanx

Cool display, H.P. Heyford, Halifax and Victor on a common base. All three are available in 1/72 scale, the Halibag from Airfix and the Matchbox Victor from Revell.

I don't ever recall shrinkwrap on matchbox kits, but I stand to be corrected

I was planning the Airfix O/400 rather than the Heyford, but pretty much the same thought process; same as the planned (but distant) Vimy / Wellington / Valiant diorama. Which makes it all the more obvious that A. V. Roe didn't get into the heavy bomber business until the Manchester.

this one had to be reboxed with the old yellow tape underneath. i wish i had looked at the others they had last month. the new chinese matchbox's are shrinkwrapped, well the 3 i've found so far, anyway.

They probably didn't shrink wrap them in Europe but over here I've seen them that way. It keeps fingers out and parts in.

NIVO which is very close to Dark Slate Grey. That's as close as I know of them getting to the FAA.

If solid NIVO (which stands for NIGHT crs VARNISH ORFORDNESS) doesn't float your boat you could do a "provisional" scheme of extra dark sea grey, dark slate grey and white. That would be a head turner! Cheers,

My Boeing P-12E kit is still celo-wrapped (not shrink-wrapped). I used to have two, so I'd already explored what was inside one, and never popped the wrapping off the other.

I think I got it from a magazine article, possibly a SAM construction article. Any pics out there are likely B&W.

Didn't anybody ever do a 524 "Pike" (First World War)?
