I'm about to start an Italieri 1:72 kit: number 1228, an F6F 5N Hellcat The instruction booklet says the colour scheme is Testors 1717 (FS 15042) Dark Sea Blue, but the box art lists the same version using Testors 1772 (FS
15050) Angel Blue. So, which is it? Which was the 'real' USN 1944 colour?Is there a Humbrol substitute?

By the way - this kit is cleanly molded, with excellent detail all over. Instructions very good. Only prob - box fulla loose bits (no bag). Had to check & count bits to be sure none were missing. Looks like a good build, though with open cockpit, detailed cockpit tub & dash (decals provided) detailed radial engine and even good detail inside wheel housings.
I suspect it isn't their tooling. Given that, the booklet (provided by tooling owner) would probably be correct as opposed to the box. But I can't be sure.
