Hi All,

Last night I saw a trailer for the above programme that is due to be shown on Channel 4 on Monday 18th Feb at 9pm & below is a copy of the programme description & a link to their homepage:

The extraordinary story of the world's first suicide bombers - the Japanese kamikazes.

From April 1945, as the Allies fought battle after bloody battle in the Pacific, an increasingly desperate Japanese High Command ordered thousands of pilots to dive and crash into enemy ships.

Using archive and interviews, 'The Day of the Kamikaze' explores how, during the battle for Okinawa, thousands of young Japanese men were persuaded to sacrifice their lives.

Surviving Kamikaze pilots describe how they were persuaded to sign up to almost certain death, and Allied sailors relive the horror of facing the daily suicide tactic for the first time.

Channel 4 is not the same channel for all viewers. For me, and everyone around where I live, channel 4 is WNBC in the US. Your channel 4 appears to be a local cable channel in Northern Ireland.

Channel 4 is one of the 5 non-digital free to air TV channels in the UK. It is called "Channel 4". It does say 'UK Channel 4' in the header.

Thanks for making things clearer David regarding UK broadcast for our friends across the pond.

Another thing about C4's website is that if you install their software you can watch the programme free, however it states you must be UK resident. Not sure if this actually stops people from abroad using it though?? See following link for more details:

As to the programme itself, I'm not sure if this is a repeat as I do remember watching something similar around 5/6yrs back and them talking to Kamikaze pilots who were basically told to do it, they had no choice & their life was worth giving to the Emperor & Japan, or along those lines anyway.

Cheers, Stephen
