Pierre Clostermann's Spitfire IX

Nov 14, 2007 0 Replies

Can anyone please provide a link to a photograph of Pierre Clostermann's Spitfire IX, BS538 NL-B which he flew while with 341 Sqn?

It needs to be a photograph, not a profile painting.

BS538 was built as a MkVc but was converted to a MkIX by Rolls-Royce. As far as I am aware, the Rolls-Royce conversions all had a non-standard top engine cowling with weird fairings similar in appearance to the fairings on later Bf-109Gs. I'd like to confirm whether or not Clostermann's aircraft had this cowling top.

Thanks.
