RAF HVAR colors?

If you put it that way, I painted all of mine flat black. I guess that came from the old Airfix instruction sheets. ISTR a discussion about them once before but the outcome has gotten lost in the memory.

There is passing mention in Richard Franks SAM Modellers Datafile 1 - De Havilland Mosquito. It includes what appear to be copies of contemporary drawings of the rocket heads, and give the colours for the 25lb heads as black with a white tip for SAP and an additional 1/2 inch white band on the nose for AP. The 25lb heads were the same diameter as the rocket body, and other photos show the bodies to be the same colour as the heads.

The colours for the 60lb heads are given as dark green overall, with a

and an update after reading Scale Aircraft Modelling's Combat Colours 6, Mosquito Day and Night fighters, which has a maritime strike chapter. Paul Lucas states that the rockets were Dark Green. He only mentions this in connection with the two-tier arrangement used by Coastal Command so that the Mosquito could carry slipper tanks as well. He gives the colours for the rocket rails as natural metal (only two rails per side here) and the clips holding the rockets to the rails as red primer. Colours for the single tier rockets, four rails per side, are not given, but the side-views show them as grey, probably meaning "unknown"
