Balance them carefully on my kids t-ball stand, get my nice, shiny aluminum bat, get into a good stance, and send that 1/72 Vulcan a good

Back in the '60s it was a firecracker. Sometimes under a box to collect the shredded parts and glue the whole thing back together.
I guess it proved useful for my short time with an FAA accident investigation crew. That job ended the day I found a wallet during a CI that belonged to the pilot. He and his passenger were guys I knew in high school.

who me is me. I loved using firecrackers in the 70's...along with paint thinner and gas.
all I can get these days are sparklers....but watching the jet explode in lots of pieces does still get the job done, though there is nothing like the smell of burning styrene.

Rubber cement and assorted fireworks.
Special effects folks, mostly low budget TV stuff, used to use it a lot for the 'flaming wreckage' effect.

gerry anderson loved rubber cement..all his fires had that stringy black smoke. kinda hurt otherwise great effects.
about 20 years ago, i had the bright idea of recreating the hindenburg; only with my goodyear blimp... sealed her up with rubber cement real good and filled her up with gasoline... still a big pile of plastic sludge on my parents cement patio to this day... man that stuff turns diamond hard when properly smoldered...
I was very carefull never to leave evidence of unsupervised destruction. When we couldn't get firecrackers I'd tie string to one wing, gas n flame to the other and whip and fly slowly till the whole thing was consumed. Talk about stringy black smoke... Beers,
