At a guess, the kit instructions will call out Tamiya paint numbers in a diagram at the end (even if all the rest of the instructions are in Japanese). Sometimes they also do percentage mixes, but again, the percentages should be comprehensible. If there are such call-outs, you can write them down or take the instructions to the nearest store with a rack of Tamiya paints and match up the numbers to get the colors. At that point, you could probably get close enough using any line of paint you wanted.
