Turning a sow's ear into a silk purse, maybe...

Heya folks!

Workin' on a 1/72 (God's _OWN_ scale) Hasegawa F-102 Dart and trying to add some detail to it. It's going to be part of a display of every aircraft ever flown by the ND ANG. Believe it or not, the Tail flash from the Matchbox 1/72 Voodoo will fit PERFECTLY!

Anyway, I found that the newer edition of the kit with the CA ANG decals and the artwork dipicting the IRST on the box does in fact have the correct cockpit instrumentation and vis- ion splitter, as well as the IRST. That's a huge help! I'm using the Hasegawa 1/72 AIM-4D missiles, and I've got the Airwaves PE set and the Aeroclub seat.

Only one problem with the PE, it has the latches for the can- opy, and who can pass up having those showing? Heh, heh...

Unfortunately the canopy is single piece and _THICK_ celar plastic. Added to this is the fact that the framing is molded as part of the fuselage halves... So, out comes the brand new sharp x-acto blade and lots of patient cutting...

Right now, I've got a two piece canopy that totally _RAWKS_! I can't say enough about patience and being careful paying off at this point. Soon I'll be working on the missiles them- selves and the launcher rails...

Wish me luck turning this dog into a pedigree!
