Xtracylix, first try

Hi all,

Got my first batch of Hannants new Xtracrylix paint, yesterday and gave it a quick test today on the cockpit of my Airfix Sea Harrier.

I have only tried hand brushing it so far but it covers really well, tries quickly and looks good against my colour chart.

If I get a chance I'll try it through the airbrush but, as Hannants have run out of the dedicated thinner, it might have to wait awhile.

Any one else here try it yet ?

Try it? This is the first I heard of it. An Xtracolour product, I presume?

If you try a toothpick on it against Model Master Acryl "New Formula" water based paint, I'd love to know which turns out to be harder to scrape off, after it has fully dried of course.

.... I know I probably can't get it in the US, but I like to know the possibilities of acrylics worldwide.

Hi Bill,

Yes it is a Hannants "Xtra" product but whereas Xtracolour is enamel these are acrylic paints, haven't been home since yesterday to test further but on my first go I'm inclined to say its as good if not better than Tamiya acrylic.

I'll post more when I get a real painting session done.
