euqal lentgh\radius versus linked dimension

sorry for the dumb question but....can somebody explain me why should one prefer the linked dimension (dimension constraint) instead the equal lenght\radius constraint or vice versa in SW sketches?


linking is for relating dimensions across different sketches, features. equal length works in the same sketch.

One way they could be utilized is for like adding general fillets or chamfers to a part. It may take multiple features to put all of the fillets/chamfers on the part, but you want them to always be the same. If you link them, any change to any one of the features will update all of the fillet/chamfer features.

If you need to control the length of an arc to equal the length of a straight line, linking works great. (I did this to develop points for an involute once.)

Also works for controlling other dissimilar parameters, i.e. bend radii and thickness; extrusion length and sketch entity dimension.

thanks guy's. your arguments about the visibilety of dimesions versus relations, is a good one, although i think that "That70sTick" has the most convincing of all.
