Matt's suggestion is the same as mine. There really is a new feature in 2005 for this, though it does not make use of the actual 'Helix' function. You need to set up your profile in a way that will produce a cross section with the right proportions, pitch and all that. Otherwise you end up with a slinky.
Under 'Define by' select 'Turns' and give it a number. It takes a little work up front, but hopefully it will suit your needs.

No, this is definitely new. It doesn't use a guide curve to make the twist, you can just tell it in a dialog box how many degrees to twist along the path of the sweep, which could be anything from a straight line to a 3D spline. Look in Help, Contents, What's New, Features, Sweep, Twist. (hey, what the hell!?! this list of features is alphabetized, unlike most of the lists in SW!)
Mike and I were discussing it a couple days ago, how some of the new features make old workaround techniques obsolete.
Another way to do this in some cases is to use the new Flex feature, very cool for doing sheetmetal deformations that you can't do with SW sheetmetal. It's great for just getting really bent and twisted...
