IGES problem-the imported open curves

Hello: I got a problem when I imported a IGES files generated from a CAD system. Since the curves in the file are not closed (i.e. the last points are not linked to the first one), I can only make a surface loft but not a boss loft. I intend to make a closed loft and hence determine the volume in the mass porperties window but fail. I hereby enclosed a iges contact with only 2 curves(layers) to arise the problem. How can I make a boss loft in this case? Thanks for your help. Sum

All,

I looked at Sum's file and when brought in is all curve data. It is in the shape of a thigh from the leg up. Now I know that he could loft from curve to curve but, the data of the curves is very jagged making for a not so pretty loft. What programs are available that can throw a surface over this data?

Dear Ken I am so glad to receive your mail, thank you. I can import the curve data to solidwork and make a loft-surface. However, since all the curves are open(i.e. not loops), I cannot make a boss-loft. My aims is to make a solid model from the curve data and determine the volume. How can I close the curve fast in solidwork? In this moment, the resolution is not import since it can be increased. Thanks for your help. Sum

From Ken's description, I assume that your curves lie on the "skin" of the "thigh" and you don't have any surfaces to close it off at the "hip" and the "knee". Probably the easiest way to handle it is to loft a surface through your profiles, add a fill surface at each end, knit the surfaces together and thicken the part to make a solid.
