Mass Props doubles file size???

I have noticed if you assign a material or calculate the mass properties of a part, it exactly doubles the file size.

Is this new to 2004 or has it always been that way?

That became true with 2004, when the advanced material box it checked. Uncheck it and your part files will regenerate much faster.
