Over the years a few conventions have sprung up on this newsgroup that newer users should be aware of. In general they spring from RFC1855 which you can read at your leisure through the link below. Newsgroups are fundamentally better than blogs for creating and storing easy to find answers to real world problems in a single receptacle. Blogs are better for extended answers and philosophical discussion.
- If it doesn't have anything to do with SolidWorks put OT: in the subject line.
- If it does pertain SW then put a concise and informative description in the subject line. Example: SW2008-Crashes when rectangle made tangent to circle. Not: I'm having a bad day, someone help.
- In your post specify which version of SW you are using; also let everyone know which OS you are using. You may know, but that is because you have access to your computer. Some people put this in their signature.
- Don't quote.
- Don't hijack threads. If segue you must, seque to a new topic with a good subject line and start a new post. People searching the archives like to know that when they look at a thread it stays on topic.
- If you ask a question have the kindness to provide timely additional information, don't ask and duck out of existence.
- It is OK to thank those who respond with helpful answers both from the perspective that you are confirming that the answer(s) was valid and that you are appreciative of someone taking a few minutes out of their day to help you.
