Broadway Limited Powerhouse Mikados

I note that the mikados are classified as Powerhouse Classics. If these are basically reruns of the original Powerhouse locomotives done by Oriental Models ( I believe?), are they of the same construction (brass, with a diecast boiler?) or are they all plastic? Detail level about the same? (appears so from the pictures).

Couldn't find much about it on BLs website. Will continue to look.

TIA for any information.

I have one of the originals. I have seen a new one running. The new one looks slightly more detailed but not that much. A few more pipes etc. Overall the new one looks and runs nicely, and sounds great. They are also doing a second run with more roadnames I hear.

Phil,

I cannot speak to the comparison between the Powerhouse models of the 80s and the BLI mike of today, but I can tell you this......The Broadway line of products is split into two groups. The Paragon and the Powerhouse lines. The basic difference between the two is the amount of detail. The Powerhouse line has mininal detail in comparison to the Paragon line. This information comes directly from BLI in answer to an email that I sent to them.

The Powerhouse USRA Mike is a light Mike while the Broadway Limited USRA Mike is a heavy Mike. I have both of them and the Broadway Limited has more detail to it. For one thing the Powerhouse light USRA is missing sand lines on the boiler. I've only run the Broadway with a train once. I assume it will pull more once it's broken in, but I could only pull 8 40 foot box cars and a caboose, all at NMRA standard weight up our helix. They are making a second run. However, one of their second run is painted for C&O and the C&OHS says that C&O had no USRA heavy Mikes. Gene ABV61-1043.001.HCB
