Would a variable speed Dremel tool have enough torque to sink a #50twist drill (tap drill for 2-56) into a Zamac locomotive frame? Wasthinking of getting Dremel's drill press stand, and the variable speedDremel to go with it. I am wondering if the resulting rig would be goodenough to save the wear and tear on fingers that comes from using a pinvice to drill locomotive frames to take Kadee coupler boxes.David J. Starr

If the drill bit is sharp, and lubricated properly, a Dremel should have noproblem if it's run at the higher speeds.

Without having a hand held tach, I can't tell.

Comparable to the bottom 20% of the speed range on my variable speed Ryobi.

For sake of argument, let's say under 500-600 rpm or so?
