Electrical componants

Where do you folks like to buy electrucal switches, wire and all that miscellaneous stuff for your layouts. We have a well stocked electronic store here in town but they're very expensive. 11.00 for a DPDT toggle switch. That's a lot when you need ten of them.

I did a google search and came up with lots of hits for online parts suppliers, but who do you LIKE for price, service, shipping time and all that.

TIA

I get everything at Radio Shack. Even when I broke the toggle switch on the Digitrax throttle, they had it.

Both good places, but aren't they surplus places? I'm pretty sure All is, not sure about Demar.

Another good surplus place is Amer. Science and Surplus.

For non-surplus places, I've had good luck with both Mouser and DigiKey.

And surprisingly, JDR Electronics sometimes is cheaper on the components they carry. I say surprising because their computer stuff is a little bit higher than most. But I've been more than satisfied with their customer service for both computer parts and components.

You're the lucky one then. The Shacks around my area have almost nothing in the way of electrical components. Maybe 100 products tops, in the resistor, capacitor, diode, 555 type stuff. A few switches, a few leds, etc. I can remember not so many years ago when I picked up some 10 bit parallel in\serial out shift registers, octal inverters, and many more common CMOS and TTL ICs. Today I went in there looking for a few things and like usual, as of late, the teenager running the store can't spell "IC" and can barely point me to the electrical components section of the store. I am hardly ever a rude person, but when the 4th employee came over to ask if they could help, and none of them knew a darn thing about any of these type of items, I answered his "may I help you" with "I doubt it." And finally... "No for the forty-fifth time, I don't need another cell phone, and I have enough rechargeable batteries to power a battleship, so leave me alone!" Thanks, I feel better.

Here is a source for electrical parts I have used for years. They offer bulk packs, wire for miles, tools, test equipment and a wide assortment of LED's and lights.

Switches for pages.

The hard catalogue is $5.00 and worth every penny.
