Varney trains and the Greenberg's Guide

Has anyone else noticed discrepancies between the Guide and the actual kits?

I recently purchased the Gerber reefer (R-39) as an unassembled kit in the original box. I believe, since my Guide is not in front of me, that production dates for this car are 1955-1961. The original box for the kit is the type used, according to the Guide, from 1957-1959. So far, so good.

However, my Gerber kit has a cast metal chassis floor. The Guide says metal floors were replaced with molded plastic floors in 1954.

I also have the Wabash ART reefer (R-42) with both plastic and metal floors. Again the Guide lists production beginning in 1955.

Maybe these are just some of the oddities one discovers when collecting something.

TIA.
