Anyone with knowledge of old McLaren diesel engines?

Recently I bought a barge whose old 6 cylinder engine is rhoumoured to be a marinised McLaren. I can find no identifying marks, so my initial quest is to find someone who can confirm that this is indeed a McLaren, and perhaps also offer suggestions for a model number. The next step would be to discover why it doesn't work! :)

If you have any knowledge of McLaren diesels I would be very grateful if you'd email me so I can send you photos to help identification.

I'm currently reading "The History of J & H McLaren of Leeds" by John Pease ( Landmark Publishing Ltd) - there are a few photos of their diesel engines - send a photo off list and I'll see if anything matches.

What sort of barge? Where?

I remember there was a Peniche tied up for years (20 years ago) on one of the rivers near the French/Belgian border which proudly displayed its McLaren badge.
