Starter motor or starting handle will need modifying.
Don't think anything else will need sorting out, the pumps should be OK, can't remember if the oil pump is gear or plunger? Gear pump will need reversing, plunger won't mind.

I want to change an SL3 in my Narrowboat for an SR3. I have the SL for the bits it think. Flywheel, cowling starter, etc.
The other way might be to reverse the gearbox, which is easy of course. If I do that can I get a starter to go the other way on the original flywheel?
What is going to be the easiest way?

At the very least, you will need to swap the camshaft. Then there is the air cooling ducts, flywheel fan and housings to consider. If you have two engines, just exchange parts and reverse the rotation on both engines.
Just a thought.... Would you be swapping SL3 a/cw for SR3 c/w? Why not just swap the cylinders, heads, injectors, etc? Best check to see if bottom ends and flywheel mass are the same.

It's a plunger pump. For a marine unit, the hand start works through a chain onto a freewheel sprocket, that would need to be swapped. Strater motor would probably need to be swapped, not usually worth trying to modify.
On a slightly more constructive note, since all the above probably means the change wouldn't be viable:- If you want to make the change in order to use it with a Lister LH150 gearbox, it *is* possible to modify the gearbox oil pump so the box will work the opposite way. You would, of course, need to change the hand of propellor. If you're stuck, I could modify the pump for you, for a fee. Listers did a reverse rotation oil pump, but they were like hens' teeth, and very expensive, 30 years ago so I doubt you would find one now without a huge stroke of luck.

Depends on your gearbox. If it's a Lister manual box, just change the propellor. If an LH150 hydraulically operated box, the oil pump need changing/modifying, as well as the prop. Still much simpler, in my book, than swapping all the engine bits. I'd be very surprised if the SL camshaft were right for the SR. It would probably run, but not well.
Some early SRs had a starter which is pretty much unobtainable now, it's quite likely the SL used the same starter but I don't know for sure.
