Not a pheasant plucker then! Seriously, these were often driven by a small Stuart Turner engine and do indeed make a 'different' exhibit.
I saw this, was seriously considering it to make my D exhibit a bit more interesting. Too far away just like everything else I like though, plus it'll probably demand more than what my wallet is worth!
Regards Chris
Us townies fondly imagine that those of you inhabiting rural areas in the far flung reaches of these islands are forever tripping over this sort of stuff languishing long forgotten in farm buildings. Is this not the case;-)
Nice to hear from you again Chris, hows things?
I wish that was the case Nick! Unfortunatley not, I still have not been able to get myself a second engine to work on. Had my eye on the Bamford that's on ebay at the moment, but unfortunatley the guy is not willing to meet me anywhere to deliver it.
Anyway, i'm doing good thanks Nick, not around much anymore because I don't have access when i'm at uni, should be back around May time. :) How about yourself?
Regards Chris
As you can probably see from NG archive plenty of good oily handed stuff going on, so I too am doing good:-)
Where are you at Uni? I went to Aston in B'ham and lack of transport, funds etc did little to curb my acquisitive habits. At that time they centered around radios though. There were some pretty good military disposal yards about and I managed somehow to end the first year with a an HRO plus full set of coils, an Eddystone 730/4 and a Naval B40 in tow. Probably won't mean much to anybody but none of them are exactly light or compact, the B40 weighs in at a cool 1Cwt - not bad for a radio, but then it was designed to be bolted to a battleship!
The dead arose and spoke to many!
Nice to have you back, Chris, don't make it so long before you drop in again :-).
