Seeing as it's an AV-1790, chances are it's out of the likes of a M46 or M47 of the mid 50s. Later versions were fuel injected and designated AVI, supercharged as well, AVSI.
A diesel version was developed in the 50s and when the US army began a program of standardising on diesel fueled vehicles, the first were ordered in 1959. The M60 of 1961 was the first new vehicle to have it.
