Ballast Colour

Ballast can vary in colour (from a greenish grey to a pink tinge) it depends from which quarry it came from. Over time it is covered with dirt (especially brake dust). Where trains stand for long periods of time there could be oil deposits. Steam depots have clinker to add to the mess. There is litter in stations and not to mention what happens if you have a flush in the station! regards, Steve
