The following is reproduced from the DEMU forum - I make no claims for its authenticity, but it is being claimed that it consitutes some of Hornby's plans for 2006:-

Being a DEMU list they seem to have omitted the important items, the M7, King Arthur and Tender Drive Brit. but strange they missed the Mk3 sleeper and TGS. Keith

Interesting, and not surprising, I just hope they sort the wheel / axle standards out...

The Lima 101 doesn't surprise me. It's obviously a spoiler for Bachmann's forthcoming 108.

I think you mean loco drive Brit? They've already got a tender driven model.

claims for its

Bachmann's

Could be, like the Cl 73, but then a 108 is totally different to a

101, many people would have both....

If that's the intention then I think they're on a loser. I'll bet the Bachmann 108 will have a drive which works!

*If* Hornby have done something about the pancake motor, I'd certainly be tempted to get both, shame there's no Super Sprinter/Reg Rail 156 to join them ;)

While I'd dearly love this list to be accurate (it would save me doing a Hornby NR 86/9 respray that I have planned!), the numbering seems a little unusual... First up, where we've got existing liveries with new numbers (blue 08, NSE 50, 'one' 90), Hornby seem to have generated a whole new product code rather than the normal A/B/C suffix on the existing code. Also, Hornby have five newly-tooled locos up their sleeve - as (other than the Lima additions) there's no brand-spanking-new diesels, surely they can't all be steam?

Some more news here:

I've just received Rail Express magazine through the post this morning and had a pleasant surprise. Hornby are re-tooling some of the Lima products and will make them DCC ready with better tooling eg. wire handrails. They will be priced to reflect that they are older models.

The range is as follows:-

Class 59 (ARC, Yeoman & EWS) Class 67 (EWS & Royal) Class 73 (Green, Pullman & Fragonset) Class 101 (Green & Blue (3 car)) Class 121 (Green, Blue & NSE) CLass 156 (Northern (white version judging by the photo), Central & Strathclyde Carmine & Cream) Mk 3 TGS (Blue/Grey, MML, FGW 'Barbie' & Virgin) Mk 3 Sleeper (Blue/Grey, Scotrail (Caledonian version), Royal & Northern Belle) CCT (Maroon & Blue) PDA/JCA (Scottish & Lloyds, Croxton & Garry & Blue Circle Cement)

This is great news and hopefully they will extend the range in due course.

The latest issue of Rail Express is confirming that there will be a 'Pendolino' included in Hornby's range for 2006.

Yes, amazing how the fingers can defy the brain. Cheers Keith

Supposedly the ex Lima items will have Hornby style 5 pole pancakes. There is also a new DCC system (ex Arnold?) with very attractive prices, including 4 function decoders for under a tenner and control units around £60 Keith

Can you post or e-mail the whole D&E list please John, annoyingly our local paper shop will not have REX until Tuesday

Thanks

they dont always do that though, if the model was weathered, or if it wasnt just a simple renumbering job, even if its essentially still the same livery overall they do generate new product codes for them, so it could well be more than just speculation.

although as you say a disappointing lack of new "non steam" traction

Sorry mate I haven't got it either, just reporting what I read elsewhere, although I seem to recall that the Pendolino was stated to be the only new D&E model for 2006.
