TT gauge today?!?

Ever one for a challenge, I was wondering about how easy it would be to build a TT gauge layout, starting from scratch. Besides the old and expensive Tri-Ang range, has anyone made any track/stock/locos/buildings in recent years?

It's a nice scale. You can pack more in than 00, and it's bigger than N, which has always seemed a bit fiddly to me.

Isn't there a thriving 3mm (aka TT gauge) society ?

IMO, only if you believe less is more....

I'm not a member, and I don't know the ins and outs of TT compared to 3mm scale, but at least it is the same scale, unlike N gauge/2mm scale (I'm a member of the latter society, wouldn't touch the former, and model in 4mm scale standard and finescale narrow gauge...)

There are some very nice 3mm models about the exhibition circuit.

I'm a dormant member. There's a pretty big range of kits etc made by various manufacturers, many of which are scaled down versions of 4 or 7mm kits. No British ready to run, in fact very little ready to run, apart from the Tillig range which is mainly German/Czech subjects, but might be useful for mechanisms etc. They also make ready built track.

If you think 'N' is a 'bit fiddly' I'd love to know what your thoughts are on 'Z gauge' errr...perhaps not! :-)
