Turntable at the end of a fiddle yard

I have been planning a layout for an 11ftx11ft area and to save spacewas going to have the fiddle area at at lower level under the layoutbut was facing the problem of having a 22in radius curve into and outof the fiddle area and having sufficient length of sidings allowing forthe pointwork. I wanted to get 4 or more sidings.Instead of through lines, if a number of sidings fed into a turntable Icould run the loco off onto the table then take it out at right anglesto the sidings doing away with one curve and one set of points.Just wondered if anybody else had done this. I suppose some sort oftraverser would save even more space but would be more complicated tomake. I assume nothing exists ready made.Kevin

Don't hold your breath :-) Not got much time for modelling at the moment so things tend to take a very long time. I want to look at integrating a hoist into a shunting layout and I remembered the picture of this one which you had pointed to some time ago.

I might even have the original article at home since I did get Model Railways up to the early 90s.

Yes, a lot of us have this time problem! Also since this lift served a fairly small goods yard I doubt they ever shunted the yard with anything bigger than a horse, so you will have quite a lot of research and experimentation to do first, S7 horses don't come easy.
