ESAB DualShield 7100?

Dec 08, 2003 2 Replies

I have a Thermal Arc Frabricator 180 and would like to try some of the ESAB 7100 Ultra Dual-Shield that Ernie Leimkuhler has recommended. Question is does the Fabricator 180 have the muscle for

035 dual-shield for .188" and .25" mild steel welding?

Cheers!

It should just be able to handle 0.035" Dual shield. Your problem will be finding it on 10 lb. spools.

0.035" dual shield wire is the most expensive, because much less of it is made or sold. 1/16" is the most common and therefore the cheapest per pound.

Not to mention that 0.035" is much more difficult to manufacture. Given that the OUTSIDE diameter is 0.035, there isn't much room on the inside to put the fill.....

So they make it larger and then draw it...and draw it...and draw it....until it is 0.035.
