I prefer to use the little demons for target practice, nice way to spend a spring morning. I love it when they stand up tall when I whistle. :-)
But in one pasture where there is a new home nearby and I don't want to disturbe them I use traps.
110 conibears mostly, but surprisingly there are a few that get wise to those but get caught in a 1.75 set just like for a coyote. Sift some dirt over and sprinkle some whole oats over the pan. Gets em by the head.. These are the Columbian ground squirrels almost as big as a prairie dog. Make sure you use good stakes if you trap.... ED
