Important safety tip

I spent most of this afternoon replacing parts of the frame on my trailer today ( closed box, 2 ton, tandem axle )...

Decided to use the plasmacutter to cut out the bad pieces of the frame and MIGweld them in place..

Enjoying the nice weather I wore shorts, t-shirt and sandals... bad idea.. I have several small burns on my feet, legs and arms from the splatter from welding and cutting...

I think I learned my lesson

Every time spatter, welding dingleberries and hot slag meets skin, skin loses. You can bet yer paycheck on this one, believe me. Lucky you only had a minor loss, and will be over it soon.

Now the bad news. Some exposures don't have symptoms for many many years. I have my yearly dermatologist trip in a month, and they usually do 4-12 skin lesions. Leftovers from a lot of welding and working in the sun.

I still have many many white spots from scars of slag that got inside my clothing, and I let burn out rather than stop and screw up an x-ray weld.

It all comes with the territory, but a little prevention goes a long long way.
