The edge on that 1/2" stock that I just cut is so ugly that I'm going to clean it up with a band saw cut. How far back should I make the cut to avoid the hardened zone?

My WAG would be about 1/4". But test it with the corner of a file first.

'Cause of an "oops" with the plasma cutter, I had to cut it back about
1/4" & it seemed to be normal hardness (mild).Thanks, Bob
