Don's Hobbies - Greeley Colorado

Feb 02, 2005 6 Replies

I just want to clear up Bob Ruths misinformations from earlier. Anyon

of the regulars from Don's knows it is quite a place. Just one example Sunday January 30th brought in 54 people to watch and/or race 1/24t scale slot cars. 18 people racing box stock class and 14 in th super-16 class. I understand that is not R/C racing, but it is winte time. Don has been working hard to get the parking lot across th street available come spring to host R/C racing. I understand th inventory may not be that of HT, but keep in mind this is a individually run small business that just made it through a year wit the street closed due to construction. He is not backed by a bi corporation to stock every component one needs. If he doesn't have it he'll get it. As for pricing, Don's is as cheap as I've found on mos items. In many cases cheaper than internet pricing! As for th uninformed clerks.......What is that? The store is Run by only 6 or s people, not one under 40. And they seem to know the answer to mos questions. You go ahead and grab your Tower Hobby catalog. Don's i doing more than most to bring the young kids into the hobby scene. Giv it another try...Head down on a Sunday at noontime, open your eyes an see what Don is doing for the hobby

Yep, I know the place and go there to spend my money quite often. I like the idea of a privately owned LHS. Besides, Don's is the closest hobby store to me.

Keep at it Don. I'll be there.

My opinion of the new management and what I experianced at the time of my posts stands. While you are clearly welcome to your opinion, you have no bases to refer to my original posting made now several months ago as "Misinformation". Do you know me? Do you have any proof that I lied about my experiances? Were you standing right behind me every second that I was in the store, months ago? Since you do not know me on what bases can you claim my posts were misinformation? Is it your assumption that anyone that does not agree with you is spouting misinformation? The only misinformation I see here is your implying someone who expresses an opinon differnt from yours is not speaking the truth. After those posts, once again months ago, I have not been in the store therefore I have no clue if conditions have improved or not. I therefore have not posted any further comments on how the new management is progressing or digressing nor would I refer to your postive comments as misinformation. If you disagree with my conclusions please feel free to express your opinions, but be mature enough not to slander and insult someone that disagrees with your views.

Gee, you really know a lot about me don't you. Before Don's changed hands to the new owner I had been a regular customer for five years. When I lived in Grand Junction I am proud to say I worked for one of the finest hobby shops - The Hobby Hut. Therefore I have been on both sides of the cash register and know what makes a great hobby shop for me. There were in fact at least four visits to Don's under their new management, In hopes of seeing it improve and each time I saw it digress from a small shop with employees that really cared, which were either fired or quit rather than work for the new owner, to a glorified Hobby Town USA clone, the "Kmart" of hobby shops. I was not impressed when I made my original posts, which I still stand behind them. They represent how I was treated and how I felt at that time. I have no interest in wasting the gas to go to Greeley when I can buy from my local Hobby Town USA or Tower and get exactly the same type of sterile service I got at the new Don's. The point you keep missing is that it was the people that worked in the store who gave a real damn that made it worth the gas to go to the old Don's for five years. They were gone, at the time of my original posting, and replaced by a supermarket manager who did not have a real clue about what makes a hobby shop great and the grocery clerks he hired to run it. If you think the place is great, then fine for you. As I said from the start, after your first post, I have no clue what the new Don's is like now and have no interest in finding out. I would have not even responded to your posts in the first place had you simply posted about how you thought the new Don's was the greatest thing on earth. However you chose to open by slandering me, which speaks volumes about you and your credibility. Feel free to post your opinions, but don't expect folks around here, including me, to accept your slander without challenging it.

Since, I have clearly shown that your "misinformation" posts are clearly misinformation at best and slander at worst I do not intend to waste any further time on this. There has now been enough on this topic for those reading this thread to draw their own conclusions.

As an old engineer friend put it best: When they reach in their bag and sling s*it at you, then the only thing that is in their bag is s*it. Come back with bag full of substance and let the folks decide which bag they want to take home. Since you decided to sling s*it in your first post, then I pretty much know what your bag is full of.
