Nickel metal hydride batteries should be charged at a one hour rate - so e.g. a 3000mAh pack should be charged at 3A.

The 1100 pack should be charged at 1.1A.

For Nickel Cadmium its safe to charge three times faster.

Fast Nickel charges don't care how many cells you have - they deliver the rated current until they detect a FALLING pack voltage (delta peak) and that represents a fully charged pack: Then they switch off.

It looks like that charger will do exactly what you want and even do up to 3s LIPOS as well. Dunno how it detects those but it says it does.

Oh. Found the manual. You push teh start button once for Nicads,twice for NiMh and 3 times for LIPOS. Yeah..really easy to get THAT wrong and blow a pack. Beware.

I suggest you study it carefully.

Not really as the LED color indicates what you have selected. I have used one for NiCd and NiMH, but not LiPos.

Hope its not in bright sun, you are not color blind, and bothered to look, then ;-)

An alarming proportion of reported LIPO pops are due to hasty and wrong selection of cell count, cell type etc.

One reason I bought a dedicated LIPO charger with autosensing of cell counts.

I don't consider myself habitually foolish or careless, but sometimes one is..

I think the only LiPo fire I've ever seen happened that way. (same charger) mk

I would call Hobbico and see if someone there could give you advice. Give them a chance to rectify the situation. In the past, Hobbico has been very helpful to modelers asking questions.

I've used my Quick Field Charger MKII to charge both the older non-balanced type LiPo packs as well as the newer balanced style packs in both 2S and 3S configurations. I have an Equinox balancing module that works quite well with the QFM MkII.

If your charger doesn't want to charge 3S LiPo packs, get it serviced.

Of all of the crap I've blown money on since I've gotten into this hobby, my QFM MkII charger might be the single best investment I've made so far.
