Well I dont know how this is going to turn out, but so far not so good. I purchased a NIB G23 from a guy on RCU and he has had my money order now for a week, says he shipped but has no tracking information. Anyone here know what I should do ? I have called my bank where I purchased the money order to see about cancelling it, they are checking into it now, but somehow I have a bad feeling about this. any and all experiences welcome, Thanks.

It's too early to cancel it; give the guy a chance. Give the guy 2 full weeks and then check with the money order issuer to see if it's been cashed. If it has, call the guy and tell him you need the UPS tracking number (there IS a tracking number for every sent item). If the third week passes, he cashed the money order and he won't give you a tracker number, then file a complaint with the Feds because if he screwed you by mail (you mailed him a money order), then it's a Federal offense. The problem is, you really do need to be patient. I'm still waiting for something I bought a month ago off of EBAY and I'm not going to start pursuing my options until the middle of next week. You want to give the guy all the rope he needs to hang himself.

Assuming he did advertise it as NIB, complain to the guy and cc RCU in every e-mail. But give him the chance to make it right.

If he doesn't then take it up with all parties involved, UPS, Post Office, RCU, his local police dept., etc. Also post your dissatisfaction here and on RCU to include the guys name, etc. Maybe enough heat can be applied to make him compliant.

However, from the beginning, decide what it will take to satisfy you and stick to it. I'd suggest your money back in exchange for the engine and he pays for all shipping.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I think the seller is a rip-off artist from the start. Most likely a small-time scammer. How would he not know his engine was used? If he wasn't familiar with engines, he probably wouldn't know if it was run or not. In which case an honest person would state that they couldn't really tell. do you have any friends in his city? I solved a similar problem (not airplane related) by having a friend make a couple "local" calls to the seller. Funny, once they know you're "in town" they get more willing to give a refund.

opinions will vary, JK

If he CLEARLY represented it as NIB, and you are SURE that it is not and can prove it with photo's, I'd go ahead and first contact the seller by email and ask him what's up and what he intends to do about it. There are two possibilities here. The First is that he just doesn't know what NIB means. Some people think that if they resell something in it's original box, they think that means NIB. If that's the case, you need to explain to him that NIB means that the item is exactly as it came from the manufacturer as it was when the original purchaser bought it BRAND NEW including any tools, instructions and decals etc. Second, he may know that he scammed you and is counting on you not complaining. If he doesn't offer you some compensation, then you need to immediately run him through the EBAY complaint process.

My mistake, but his options are similar. I think RCU will work with people who have a problem in a transaction in the same way that EBAY does.

Well here is an update to my situation, The guy calls me back finally, and the number ID's as a name and number from Louisiana, which is where I sent the MO, he tells me he is in Utah. I mention the caller ID, he says its a cell phone. Maybe ?

anyway, to the point... after arguing for over 30 minutes he says that the ad was correct stating Barely ran, as he ran only 3 or 4 gallons through it....I call this gently used.....to me barely ran is started up on the bench, or flew one flight with it.... never the less.... I mentioned that the ad also stated NIB, he said he didnt put that it was NIB and he knows what that means. Then he said he went in and looked at the ad and says that it shouldnt have said NIB.

I ask for my money back in that I will send this engine back to him, he says he dont have any money to send to me. says hes in college and broke.

Sorry for the long post, just had to tell someone.

at this point dont buy anything from Cagun Kamakazy, I dont think he knows how to honestly describe any item, and doesnt hold funds for any length of time. He sent this through the mail with out tracking or Insurance, so just glad it made it here, as that would have been another road that wouldnt differ too much from this one.
