i would not recommend and speed control not designed for lithium. the low voltage cutoff for a normal ESC will allow a li-ion or li-poly pack to discharge to dangerous levels. The pack will be ruined if you ever fly to ESC cutoff.

Is there anyone out there using a GP C-10 ESC with 3 lithium cells? I know

OTOH, if you really are able to fly the 45 minutes or so required to get the pack to 'staggering around barely flying' and not notice either the lack of performance or the time, then you deserve to wreck the pack.

If you simply always charge ypour p[acfk, and never fly it dwon to te bottom, you never invoke LVC anyway...

I fly mine daily on LI-PO packs using regular 10 and 25 amp ESC. I have found that as long as you don't keep resetting the esc to get more flight time, they work fine. Keep in mind that I am using them on nothing larger than a brushed speed 400. I do run them on brushless as well but the controller is set up for Li-Po.

bottom, you never invoke LVC anyway...
