When I am using the computer, I do not wish to be interupted by others with programs such as Instant Messenger or Windows Messenger. I would never get anything accomplished, were that the case. I am too easily distracted as it is, without help.

When I performed the Google search, I forgot to look in the newsgroups portion - Doh! So Bill was partly correct. I didn't do my job.

Luckily, my friends and family feel the same way. When Messenger pops up, it's for something more than "Hi how are ya?"

I found 70 file, registry, and cookie references with SpyBot that Ad-Aware missed. The SpyBot "Immunize" feature has caught 3 or 4 bots trying to install on my system.

SpyBot's scanning engine is about 3x faster than Ad-Aware's too.

I wish i'd kept all the computers and hardware i've discarded over the years that could now be considered classics. I'd probably need a barn to put them all in. And i'd be divorced. Hmmm....

I found what I did wrong and straightened it out. Just follow Warren's instructions to the tee and you will get it right.

Ad-aware may be something great for you, but it corrupts my Free Agent news reader. Just want to be sure everyone knows both sides.

I have no particular loyalty to Ad-aware, it was just one that came to mind that i've used in the past without incident. Obviously, YMMV.

Ad-aware does warn you that removing certain discovered components may cripple ad-supported freeware. I suspect this may be the case with Free Agent.
