Thuder Tiger GP42 info please

I've obtained a second hand TT GP42 2 stroke glow engine, unfortunately without manual! I would like info on recommended fuel, glow plug and starting position for the mixture (ie. 3 out etc.). Any info on this engine at all would be appreciated as I have not been able to find a manual online.

While not the same engine, the info contained in the manual for the OS LA.40 will serve to operate your TT GP.42....

It's a lot more info than they used to have. At least the parts list is online (click on the "new PDF " link at acehobby.com, then to the engine link. The 13.7 meg download is dimensions and a parts list for the whole TT line.) Email, or even better yet, call, the support department. I can't say enough good things about them. I downloaded the parts list after finding my .07 came without a head gasket. I got the part number for it and called to order one. They transferred me over to support, where they stuck one in an envelope that day, no charge, no questions asked. They may have the manual available to email you. If they get enough requests, they might throw them up online. Seems like they've got just about everything else up.

I never had the manual for mine, got it second hand too. I used 10% Cool Power and 10% straight synthetic no name fuel, the engine liked both equally well. I think 3 turns out is a good starting point on the needle. I never messed with the airbleed for the idle. Mine was very reliable, started with a flip, and idled slower than any other

2-stroke I have ever seen. Turned a MA 10x6 around 13k. I moved on to more powerful engines and donated the GP42 to the club to use in a community trainer.

good luck to you

Bill, Needle valve 2- 2 1/2 turns out (start there), air bleed screw center of hole (that's where mine is set at), 10x6 prop normal (after break-in with a

10-5), for break-in, fuel containing 20% castor oil or castor/synthetic blend with no more than 10% nitromethane for break-in. You can go to all synthetic after break-in. I know you said your engine was used but I figured I'd quote directly from the manual. I use a fox long with idle bar with no complaints. Joe L.

Go to

and click on the 'links' button on the left hand side menu.

Once done, on the right hand pane, is a link to download a PDF file of the GP42 manual. Sorry its a bit crude in terms of scanning.

Hope it helps!
