Sam,

It looks like the DC amp, in my 3016, for the fourth axis. Same big cap and fuseblock. It's sure not the normal flat plug in amp.

When I bought it, they didn't have an AC servo fourth. They bolted this little guy by itself over in a corner of the cabinet. My last machines were all DC servos. The fourth axis amps were in the usual slots right next to the rest. Since this was an AC machine, I guess the regular DC amps wouldn't fit.

Mark, there's three amps there, along with power supply and backplane....and he is selling the unit as 'new amc'...

I see a sticker on the center amp that sure makes it look as though it and its partner to the right is Glentek....not AMC.....

Maybe the box they got it in was "new" ???

Sam,

Now that I look at the larger pictures, there are three amps in a chassis. Seems a bit bigger than what I thought it was.

I've bought quite a few gages off Ebay. On balance it's worked out alright. It's a mystery to me though what some people will pay for a used tool. Usually the real deals are on items that aren't listed properly. Or on high end stuff that the average shop rat or hobbiest isn't familiar with. Take a look at this:

Prolly cost a zillion dollars new. He'll end up getting $500.00 for it. Maybe. If you know what it is and you're handy, it's a steal.

Sam,

Yea, the don't use Glentek anymore do they ? I know they did back in the late 80's. And isn't the 50-40 a relatively new model ? Back in the those days I think the 60-30 was all they had in this range.

Not sure about all that, our vmc 15s both use AMC--the 96 model has a smaller version with plug on top...the '2000 has a larger format, all screw connections--but it is a factory rebuild so cant really go by that.

And our 1992 4020 has Glentek # 4568 amps...these appear same as the two in the photo--right down to location of the sticker...

When I wrote that, there was like twenty minutes left with no bids. At least a couple of times per month you see something uncommon like that. I'll bet that SIP cost a small fortune new. That's why you don't see too many around. That is a true instrument. Worth every penny of $999.00. If you see a Mitutoyo toolmaker's scope on Ebay, it will sell for more money than a Gaertner. The Gaertner is a much better scope in every way, but few people know who they are, so that's where the deal is.
