Does anybody know if any EtherNet/IP product supports any of the optional "Objects" described in Volume 1: CIP Common Specification, Chapter 5: Object Library?
Some are required (like Identity) but most are optional or application specific (like Register or Discrete Input Point or Motor Data).
Can anyone tell me of any ENIP product that implements any of these optional objects or even a vendor specific object? If so, what objects?
I have been told that use of these "CIP" objects is actually rare and that most vendors who implement a Ethernet/IP device use something called a "symbolic segment" which can support a tag based interface to the data in the device and that ControlLogix on Ethernet/IP uses this method, not objects.
Thanks,
