Is Stamp an acronym?

Hi everyone,

I wonder if the Stamp part of the BASIC Stamp is some kind of acronym. If it is what does it mean?

I think it was probably because the first ones were advertised as being the size of a (rather large) postage stamp, basically.

P.S., this isn't really the best group for that sort of question.
