Under direction, the selected candidate will provide process
instrumentation and control (I & C) expertise to the Operations and
Maintenance Process Engineering Division. The selected candidate will
provide technical assistance to field staff, manage assigned projects,
review and evaluate I & C drawings and designs, participate in the
development of scopes of work, and participate in design workshops to
establish the basis of design for individual CIP projects. The
successful candidate will also develop and maintain design standards
and specifications and prepare reports, process and instrumentation
diagrams, loop diagrams, and logic diagrams. This person will be
responsible for preparing engineering calculations and will develop,
coordinate, and review control strategies. Other duties include
troubleshooting process and instrumentation failures and assisting with
change management and database controls.
Key Performance Objectives within the first year:
Assist with the development of an instrumentation calibration database
Conduct a review of the District design guidelines for instrumentation
maintainability and reliability issues.
Assist with review of maintenance intervals and activities for field
Conduct a review of existing process control philosophies.
Assist with developing and implementing asset management and
reliability-based maintenance practices and strategies.
This position requires the equivalent of a Bachelor's degree from an
accredited college or university with major course work in Engineering
and a minimum of five years of increasingly responsible I & C field
engineering experience. A valid California Professional Engineer (PE)
registration in Electrical or Control Systems is required. Trade
school, apprenticeship, or fieldwork in the areas of electrical or
instrumentation and control is highly desired. Experience working
closely with field instrumentation technicians and process operators in
an automated industrial environment is important. Any experience
developing and implementing asset management and reliability-based
maintenance practices is a plus. Ability to conduct reviews of
existing process control philosophies and design guidelines for
instrumentation maintainability and reliability are preferred.
ENGINEER SALARY RANGE STARTS AT: $78,977/yr. - $86,362/yr.

Not hardly enough money to live in Orange County California, especially with a PE. I a friend that works for an OEM with his PE and he is pulling down over 6 figures base plus a vehicle.
