Meaning Of FLA On Furnace Blower Relay ?

Apr 30, 2005 2 Replies

Hello:

Saw the following designation on a furnace blower replacement relay, preumably for the current capability of the contacts: "8 FLA"

Never ran into this before.

Assuming the A part means amps, which would be about right for the relay and the number 8 appearing, what could the FL part be ?

Thanks, B.

replacement relay,

FLA"

for the relay and

FLA = full load amps = max running amps. Less than that is fine.

LRA = locked rotor amps (seen on heavier motors and the amps you see for a second or two on startup with)
