Does anyone have an idea if there are limitations on the installation age of MICC cables? Pointers toward (or citations of) UK guidance or regulations would be useful.

I am not aware of anything. Failure of MICC is generally due to moisture ingress, and this is easily checked with an earth resistance test. Moisture ingress could result from badly made off ends, or from damage penetrating the copper sheath (impact with sharp object, or corrosion, e.g. due to contact with some types of concrete and moisture).
