switching magnetics

I am going to try my hand at some switching supplies that are fairly high power. Can anyone recommend a simple reference to calculate inductors?

Thanks in advance

Yes.

Get the Mag inc moly permaloy catalog. They use my curves to tell you just what core to use for the energy it must store and once you choose the core for the energy it must store then the resistance of the inductor is automatically set.

But different cores can store different amounts of energy depending on the MU which really is the predetermined gap and the amount of Linearity that you demand of the core.

I published some of the origonal curves here in this group a few years ago.

Thanks for the info. Got any other handy tips for switcher beginners? I have made a few in the past, but they were pretty small with most everything being off the self. This time I am looking at about 5-7.5 Kw and most everything will be custom.

jUST IF you are going to change voltages do it in the converter section by pulse width modulating it. . . I DO NOT FOLLOW MANY OF THESE NEWS GROUPS To answere me address mail to snipped-for-privacy@aol.com
