Hagrid's bathroom shave told scene by scene in LEGO

The trouble with any Hagrid minifigure is that the beard is the character. Take it away and you have to earn the recognition all over again, and that is exactly the challenge this MOC takes on. The maker presents it as a short story told through LEGO scenes, with a text card reading '10 minutes later...' handling the transition between them. One scene has the bearded minifigure holding scissors up to his face, apparently getting ready for a trim, and a later scene drops him into the bathroom in swim trunks.

The bathroom itself is where the build shines. A white brick bathtub holds transparent blue pieces standing in for water, and a black faucet is flanked by red and blue round studs as the hot and cold knobs. The checkered black and white floor gives the room a classic look, and the minifigure's pink swim trunks add a nice splash of color. A brown shelf stocked with various colorful pieces and a brown counter carrying silver scissors and a transparent blue bottle keep the scene feeling lived in.

My favorite touch is the mirror, which reflects the minifigure's large brown hair and beard, tying the two scenes together neatly. The yellow rubber duck he holds is a charming oddity, and the maker called it a perfect reference.

As for how it ends, the maker joked that the figure is now smooth everywhere, and also agreed that the eyebrow trimming joke went too far. I would love to see a third scene showing the aftermath.

This is such a fun way to tell a story with a minifigure. I am curious how the mirror effect was pulled off. Showing the bearded version reflected while the scene has him mid-shave sounds like it could be a printed piece or something layered behind a frame, and I would love to know how the maker approached it.

The maker has not explained the technique behind the mirror, so I cannot say for sure. What is known from the build itself is that the mirror shows the minifigure's large brown hair and beard, which pairs with the earlier scene of him holding scissors up to his face before the '10 minutes later...' card moves the story into the bathroom.
